About Us

Our Origins

Mamina is a name that holds the essence of who I am and where I come from. When I was little, I would try to call my mom ‘mamita,’ (mommy in Spanish) but I couldn’t pronounce it right and would say ‘mamina.’

My dad adopted it as my pet name, and since then that name encapsulates the love and connection we’ve always had as a family.

To me, Mamina represents that place where my mom, dad, and I will always be together: the beginning of everything.

When I decided to create this brand, I knew I wanted its name to have a deep meaning, one that honored my roots and the importance of family. Mamina is not just a fashion brand; it is a tribute to the warmth of home, the art of creating with your hands, and the beauty of finding purpose in the simplest and most authentic things.

This is our journey, and I am happy that you are a part of it.

Our Manifesto

At Mamina, our mission is based on three essential pillars.
Preserve the artisanal tradition of crochet: an art that connects generations, through education and the creation of garments made entirely by hand. We believe that keeping this craft alive is vital to honor our roots and transmit a legacy of creativity and dedication.
Empower women: closing the gender gap and bringing ethical and fair employment opportunities to marginalized communities in Costa Rica and Latin America. Each garment we make is an example of how design and fashion can be tools of change and hope.

Connect the world with the story behind each piece: the effort, the hands and the hearts that participated in its creation. Because we believe that fashion can and should be a bridge between people and the humanity that is in every detail.

About our founder

Hi, I’m Fer, the founder of Mamina. I grew up between Costa Rica and Mexico, inspired by my mom’s endless creativity and passion for making things with her hands. She sparked my love for design, especially anything related to fabrics and fashion.

In college, I discovered crochet while struggling with traditional sewing, and it completely changed how I saw fashion. Crochet became my way to create something meaningful—garments that are beautiful, sustainable, and deeply connected to the people who make them.

Mamina is more than a brand to me. It’s a way to honor my roots, support artisans, and preserve a craft that’s close to my heart. It’s also a bridge back to my family and a dream of building something that’s colorful, thoughtful, and full of purpose.

Thank you for being here <3
